Leadville and Buena Vista, July 13
Again, I am writing you three days worth of blogs, this time from a KOA campground in Ouray, Colorado, which is fully equipped with Wifi.
On July 13, my first act of the day was to catch all of you up on the previous 3 days of activities in Colorado. Ann, while I was at City on the Hill, decided to bump her way up to the yurts at 12,500 ft., as people were going to stay there this week. She returned just as I was finishing up all the blogs, and we left for Ann's house. There, we found Chase, Ann's dog, lethargic, shaking, and uninterested in food and drink or any of his usual pursuits. Ann of course was really worried, and we drove him about 40 miles away to his vet, a Dr. Kettering, in Buena Vista. Elevated temperature and a slight discrepancy in blood work manifested a slight infection, and he was given an antibiotic shot and pills for the next ten days. I held him all the way home, where he did not touch food or drink, but was totally given to sleeping. We didn't want to leave him or take him anywhere in that state, so we ate in (tilapia, squash, and grapes for dessert), and then watched a fascinating movie called "The Illusionist" with Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti, and Rufus Sewell. It was a down day of worrying about Chase, but he, like any other friend in need, made it onto my prayer list for quick recovery. SV
