July 18: departure from Denver, Colorado

I am writing you at 33,000 ft. en route to Dallas from Denver.  My flight left at 2:22 p.m., and should arrive in Dallas at around 5:40 p.m.  This morning, Ann and I loaded the Jeep with luggage and Chase, and we drove to Denver surrounded by brilliant sunny skies.  As it was the weekend of the Courage Classic bike race, cyclists were churning their way up to Fremont Pass and to Leadville.  We stopped at our favorite tearoom at the charming small town of Silver Plume, close to Georgetown.  The building in which the cafe is located also supports antiques, and it was fun to eat there as well as to check out the uniques and surprises of the antiques trade.  Ann had quiche lorraine and bacon, and I had a trio salad with chicken salad, egg salad, and pea salad, with three different fruit servings in the side.  If we could have fit in a piece of strawberry-rhubarb pie, we would have, but that was not possible.
On we went to Denver, and Ann got me there at about 12:30, giving me plenty of time to check in and find my terminal and gate.  We boarded on time, and are now cruising above the clouds.  Wonderful trip, and again, Ann was the perfect hostess.  Colorado remains one of my favorite vacation spots!
On Tuesday, July 21, I leave for Seattle and a visit to my daughter Alexandra.  From there I leave on July 27 to visit Maureen Fromme in San Francisco.  The blogs will continue from July 21 until I reach Dallas again, on August 4.  The end of summer is fast approaching, but there is more to do!  Looking forward to it all.  Expect my Colorado slides to be available for perusal on July 20, before I leave for Seattle.
