Greek trip: June 12
Today we boarded our cruise ship, which held about 2400 persons--my first cruise ship ever. it is the only way to get to those islands we wanted to see and which had been on Saint Paul's itinerary. We sailed from Piraeus to Mykonos, part of the Cyclades Islands, which are arid and rocky. Mykonos is situated 93 miles from Athens, on the Aegean, and I admired its whitewashed houses against the brilliance of the blue roofs and the turqoise Aegean Sea. After circling the small town, I sat down with Suzanne at an outside taverna, and we tried a Mostra, a specialty of the area, which resembles the look of a bruschetta but contains thicker bread and does not hold up in the taste department at all. Bruschetta still holds the trump card. Returned late evening to dinner and overnight on the ship.
This sounds so pictureque! Can't wait for the photos! How did you like the cruise ship? I've never been on one either!
