June 4: Indianapolis, then Dallas

Dear Friends and Relatives,

This morning, before focusing on the gardens and an Audubon exhibit at the IMA, we packed, and Charles matted and framed a black/white photograph of the Tetons that I had given Alexandra.  He also loaded her up with a pie and some fruits and vegetables from the garden.  We had some polenta with chorizo before leaving for the museum to see all the new successes of the gardens, their plantings and visions of the future, now that Charles has hired a horticulturist for the Museum, with great plans for the grounds.  We saw their vegetable gardens and in particular the amazing orchids in their greenhouses, as well as an exhibit of porcelain and also an Audubon exhibit that featured extremely detailed drawings of birds from different sections of the US.  A room towards the end of the exhibit featured a video installation of birds awakening and retiring--creating a truly mesmerizing effect.  At about 3:00, we returned, packed Alexandra's Jeep Liberty, and she brought me to the airport.  A flight to Atlanta, and then a hop to Dallas completed the journey, and I arrived hime at about 10:00 pm. What a fine time we all had!  A successful visit in every respect, and I even got to de-seed cherries and shell peas!  New skills learned!!!!
