Day 1, June 2, 2017: Indianapolis, Indiana

Hello, and I am off again with reportage concerning the five summer trips of 2017.  Although it has taken more trouble than ever to put this summer's roster together due to passport/visa troubles (to be explained some day if we are all up to a ridiculously long, complicated process of a story), I am off on my first of five.  I departed this morning on an early flight to Houston via Southwest Airlines, followed by a flight to Indianapolis, Indiana.  I arrived to a city bathed in sunshine, light breezes, and a high of 68.  Charles and Martin were in meetings and could not pick me up at the airport, but Alexandra, who had driven from Cleveland, picked me up at the curb, and we left for a restaurant called Goose the Market, where Alexandra had a beer Brot mustard sandwich, and I had a salmon sandwich.  Dessert: for Alexandra, Dutch fudge cookie ice cream; and I had cappuccino ice cream.  Afterwards we went home to Westerley, where Charles and Martin met us.  Charles showed us all around their gardens, and there is going to be a big garden tour for hundreds of people next weekend, so everything looked quite beautiful.  Martin left to pick up his mother Gwen, and later on Charles, Alexandra, and Martin prepared dinner, which consisted of pork roast, polenta, and mustard greens.  Now they are preparing three different pies: a cherry pie, strawberry rhubarb, and serviceberry or Saskatoon berry.  It is now 11:00, and there seems to be no end of this cooking and baking, and all the cooks are pontificating and posing in their glory!
