July 30: St. Petersburg, Florida, Day 3

Dear Friends and Relatives,

This morning, Jim cooked a Campfire Breakfast, which consisted of scrambled eggs, cream cheese, and Jimmy Dean's sausage, with British muffins.  A leisurely morning, but storm clouds were reeling in and it looked like we might have rain any minute.
After cleaning the kitchen from breakfast, which we had had on the veranda by the pool, Nancy and I got ready and went to the 10:00 am service of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where Nancy and Jim were married in 2002.  A lovely service, with a very friendly congregation, beautiful gardens, and a fine facility painted in umber tones.  From there we returned to the house and snacked on a bunch of leftovers involving crackers, flax chips, hummus, cheeses, and my first Mexican Sundae, which Jim made me for dessert and which featured vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and salted Spanish peanuts.  The salty-sweet combination was really good, and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Nancy and I spent the afternoon talking and watching the Garbo film "Ninotchka," which Nancy had never seen and which I have see about 15 times and still love.  At about 5:00 pm, Jim's sister Pam and her husband Jack came for dinner, which consisted of a salad, a slowly cooked roast and vegetables, and all kinds of different fruits for dessert.  They left after the last course, and we cleaned the kitchen and then planned our St. Petersburg itinerary for tomorrow, Monday, August 31.  Last day of the month, and then only 15 days till school.  How the summer has flown!  Goodnight to all!  As ever, SV
