MASSACHUSETTS TRIP, Day 2, July 14
This day got started a little early, as we had to make a trip to Logan Airport. All of us got up at 7:00 a.m. to have breakfast and get Sarah and Owen packed and ready to go back to California. We made it in plenty of time, though the roadways and especially the roundabouts were filled with commuters. With Owen in tow, there was much more luggage than a single person would use--a car seat and a device to strap it in; an over-50-pound suitcase, and another carry-on bag or two. Lots of luggage for Sarah to supervise, though she was handling it all with aplomb.
After we bid goodbye to both of them, we drove out of the airport and made a short stop at the Nordstrom Rack, where Marthe bought some leggings and a pair of jeans, and I bought five pair of underwear. Afterwards, we headed back and had lunch, eating a sandwich and cole slaw, both leftovers from yesterday evening's feast. Following that, both of us were able to go for naps, since the afternoon was too warm and very humid. After about 30 minutes we got together and worked on our itinerary for the next few days of my visit here. We discussed lots of ideas, looked much up on my iPad, tossed out some ideas and put others on the agenda. We have decided to go to Canterbury Shaker Village on Sunday, which I am very much looking forward to, having visited the Sabbathday Shaker Village in Maine a few years ago.
Josh, Marthe's boyfriend, came by at 6:00, and all three of us went to an organic restaurant, where we shared three plates of the restaurant's specialities--dishes of falafel, quinoa, dehydrated, fried kale; marinated peppers, guacamole, black beans, and other delectables.
After dinner, we went to see "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," a film which I have now seen three different times, but which I enjoyed as thoroughly this time as the first--especially the reactions of my friends. Afterwards, still in Beverly, a few towns north of Hamilton, we stopped by a Pinkberry, and I invited the two of them for ice cream. I had a cup filled with fruit and a topping of pomegranate yoghurt. Fabulous!
Josh has left, and Marthe has gone to bed. I am up here, in a little bedroom, sitting here typing this missive, and listening to music on my classical station. Restful day! Bye till tomorrow! As ever, Sylvia
Thanks so much for the mention, and I hope you enjoyed your visit!
